Kelly Hody is currently the licensee for Business Hub Mawson Lakes and Business Hub Semaphore, where she and her husband Andrew provide a professional sanctuary for small businesses and remote workers.

Moving away from the constraints of long leases and high upfront costs, their model focuses on reducing pressure for owners, allowing them to scale up or down at their own pace.

This approach is informed by Kelly’s decade of experience as a marketing coach and consultant, where she helped businesses grow in ways that were both manageable and sustainable.

A Deep Connection to Local Roots

The choice to run a business in the western suburbs is a deeply personal one for Kelly, who grew up in Largs Bay. Her family history is woven into the very fabric of the Semaphore community; her grandfather was a wharfie, and her father attended church in the exact building that now houses Business Hub Semaphore.

Transitioning from a 20-year corporate career to small business ownership—including purchasing a takeaway pizza shop during the heights of the pandemic—gave Kelly a firsthand appreciation for the daily navigation required of local owners.

Creating Community Beyond the Desk

Beyond providing physical offices or virtual addresses, Kelly is dedicated to combating the isolation often felt by those running their own ventures. She believes that while digital opportunities have increased, the fundamental importance of trust and consistent relationships remains unchanged.

By fostering a supportive environment, she aims to provide the breathing room and community connection necessary to prevent burnout and encourage long-term success.
