The North West Business Alliance is driven by local leaders who understand our region. This month, we sat down with Desiree Beekharry to learn about her business journey and passion for the North West. Desiree is the current Secretary on the NWBA Board.
In two sentences, what do you do and what inspired you to start?
Keynote speaker, facilitator and international expert on fear, risk and human behaviour in high-pressure environments. Regularly run workshops and facilitate training across conflict, communication and cultural dynamics, risk, crisis and disaster leadership, emotional intelligence under pressure, communication in high-stakes environments and organisational change.
What motivated you to join the Board and support the North West business community?
A chance to see how a Board can assist and act in a community’s best interest to grow. To meet people from a different area - we tend to stay around our suburbs a lot.
What is one thing you think makes the North West region the best place to do business?
The PAE area has a lot of potential for growth. I’m a Londoner and have seen how the Docklands area thrived once ‘gentrified’ and think there’s so much that can happen to benefit community and businesses.
If you could magically gain one new business skill overnight, what would it be and why?
Be an amazing negotiator.
Are you more productive at a 7:30 am breakfast meeting or a 6:00 pm networking evening?
I wake up at 5am everyday except Sunday. I’d say I’m an early bird. 🙂
