Meet the Board: Dylan Stone

In two sentences, what do you do and what inspired you to start?

To keep it brief, I provide hands-on business consulting and admin support that helps small businesses grow through tailored strategies, practical systems, and clear planning that builds confidence and long-term success through my business, Stone Business Consultancy.

My inspiration draws on my time at my Cafe in Broken Hill, where I saw, time and time again, small business owners struggle with overwhelm, limited resources, and a lack of support, and I wanted to bridge that gap with accessible, real-world guidance based on my experiences.

Why NWBA? What motivated you to join the Board and support the North West business community?

I’ve always believed that if you want results, you have to get in the game, and that you either create the wave or risk being carried by it. Joining the board is a natural step for me, because I’m passionate about supporting the North West business community and celebrating the incredible people in our own backyard who make it thrive. I’m not one for sitting on the sidelines as real change comes from rolling up your sleeves and being part of the solution.

What is one thing you think makes the North West region the best place to do business?

Certainly community spirit, the community is always supporting each other and building each other up. It’s also brilliant to see some of the “institutions,” such as Council, the NWBA, and other key community groups being proactive in their support of the region- that speaks for itself!

What is one specific moment or event that made you realise the importance of a local business network like NWBA?

It’s the fact that no one is here to save us, and we can either rise and fall on our own, or we can build with the confidence that our community provides us. Having the foundation of a strong community is key for success in business, but we must all play our part to build this strong community. I learned that very quickly when I opened my own cafe in Broken Hill, and that lesson translate here.

When you aren’t working or volunteering with the NWBA, where are we most likely to find you?

You will often find me at a pub playing competition 8-ball during the week, and on the weekends, you’ll often see me somewhere throughout the place entering my Daschund x Staffy, Theo, into a dog obedience or rally-obedience trial. Also gives me a great excuse to travel to amazing country towns to trial, and take advantage of some amazing camping spots!
